Dr. Rosa Y. Kim is an expert medical and surgical retina specialist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. Dr. Kim is active in clinical research, particularly in uveitis, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, as well as vascular occlusive diseases. She is the principal investigator for the National Eye Institute clinical trial for uveitis, as well as other clinical trials evaluating novel treatment options for uveitis.

Dr. Kim was valedictorian of Baton Rouge Magnet High School in Louisiana and received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Louisiana State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She graduated from Stanford Medical School where she was honored as a Stanford Medical School Scholar. Her research at Stanford included studying factors affecting retinal detachments.
Dr. Kim completed her ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at Harvard Medical School: The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where she was involved with research on macular degeneration, photodynamic therapy and trained with world renowned uveitis specialist, Dr. Stephen Foster. Dr. Kim was chosen to receive the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship Award, as well as the Hermann Knapp Fellowship Award during her retina fellowship training in Boston. Her works have resulted in numerous published scientific papers, abstracts, and book chapters.
Dr. Kim is an elected member of The Retina Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
When she is not taking care of her patients or doing research, Dr. Kim volunteers at her church and enjoys long distance running. She has a son in college and a daughter in middle school, and they enjoy FaceTiming.
