Rosa Y Kim, MD

Dr. Rosa Kim graduated valedictorian of Baton Rouge Magnet High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Louisiana State University with top honors. She graduated from Stanford Medical School where she was honored as a Stanford Medical School Scholar. Her research at Stanford included studying the factors affecting retinal detachments. Dr. Kim then completed her ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at Harvard Medical School/ Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where she was involved with research into macular degeneration, photodynamic therapy, and ocular oncology. Dr. Kim was chosen among candidates nationwide to receive the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship Award, as well as the Hermann Knapp Fellowship Award during her retina fellowship training in Boston. Her works have resulted in over thirty-five published scientific papers, abstracts, and book chapters. Dr. Kim continues to be very active in clinical research, particularly in uveitis, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and vascular occlusive diseases. She is the principal investigator for the National Eye Institute clinical trial for uveitis, as well as many other clinical trials evaluating novel treatment options for uveitis. Dr. Kim is an elected member of The Retina Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
