David M Brown, MD FACS
Dr. David Brown was valedictorian of Deer Park High School in Deer Park, Texas and he graduated with high honors from both Houston Baptist University and Baylor College of Medicine. He completed ophthalmology residency and his medical / surgical retina fellowship at the University of Iowa where he was a Thomas Heed fellow and a Hermann Knapp Fellow. In 1993, he was awarded the Ronald G. Michels Foundation Fellowship Award as the most outstanding retina surgery fellow in the United States. Dr. Brown is the director of clinical trials at Retina Consultants of Houston and his research and clinical interests are focused on diseases of the macula including macular surgery, age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular disease. He is the author of over 80 scientific papers, book chapters, and national meeting presentations with published abstracts. He serves as a retina expert reviewer for the New England Journal of Medicine and 6 major ophthalmology journals. Dr Brown is the past president of the Houston Ophthalmology Society and has served on the board of directors of the Greater Houston Area American Diabetes Association and the Gulf Coast Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Dr. Brown’s honors include elected membership in both major retina honor societies (the Macula Society and the Retina Society), honor awards from the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and election to "America’s Best Doctors” 2007-2010.
